Carrara opened their first retail shoe store at 5945 W. North Avenue under the name "Montecatini Shoes." Montecatini is a resort town in Tuscany. The name was later changed in 1993 to "Carrara " when the business began to sell their own line of children's shoes. From 1993 to 2000, the store was located inside the Harlem/Irving Plaza on the northwest side of Chicago. Carrara Shoes opened a second location in Lincoln Park in 1997, where it is now located at 2121 N. Clybourn, Chicago, Illinois 60614.
